West Coast Netting Installation Employee Job Description & Requirements
WCN Installers must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance. The ability to understand and communicate information is also essential as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. WCN Installers must be able to work at varying heights utilizing several different types of aerial work platforms. Consequently, WCN installers are required to undergo fall protection training and must use fall protection whenever applicable. Due to WCN’s frequent use of large equipment it is necessary for our Installers to have learning agility as well as the ability to identify discuss and comprehend Job Hazard Assessments and Job Hazard Tasks. WCN Installers are required to attend and participate in Toolbox Talks. WCN Installers will perform all work in accordance with and adherence to all applicable OSHA and or other applicable state and local regulations.
WCN Installers typically use equipment such as a skid steer, rough terrain reach fork, telescopic and or articulating aerial work platforms and scissor lifts to name a few. Certification is required for all equipment prior to use as is a pre-utilization safety review. Some tools and machines are computerized, requiring technical knowledge to use. WCN Installers regularly move long & heavy steel poles as well as materials like netting hardware etc.… from a flatbed trailer or even to move the steel poles from one side of the jobsite to the other, it's not a simple operation. Further our work requires the use of specialized equipment like cranes. Therefore, it is critical that WCN Installers know how to calculate or obtain the weight of the poles, or the crane could overbalance. WCN Installers utilize their expertise to ensure operations such as these go smoothly and safely. Being able to communicate in both English and Spanish is helpful.
WCN Installer duties generally include:
• Drilling footers with a skid steer or other applicable means
• Setting poles using cranes and the like
• Pouring or pumping concrete into footers
• Painting the finished poles after setting them – using a straight boom at varying heights
• Attaching cable & netting to steel and wood poles - using a straight boom at varying heights
• Attaching & securing netting to using a variety of attachment methods - using a straight boom at varying heights
• Cleaning and preparing a job site, loading and delivering materials, and using a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment
• Demolition of existing netting on baseball, softball, soccer fields, golf courses etc.…
• Cut the netting panels to size and attaching to posts
• Set up markers, cones and barricades and flag vehicles to control the flow of traffic
• Work outside in all kinds of weather or in buildings without heating or air conditioning
• Use hand tools shovels and or skid steers with various attachments to dig foundations for fence posts as well as leveling the ground or to bring it to finish grade Position wood, concrete or metal posts
• The use of different types of rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, chokers and winches
• Moving materials using heavy equipment through narrow spaces safely
• Wide ranging use of materials such as steel, timber, concrete, wire, metal and polyester netting
